To: Erin Mitchler, Valerie McClinton, Curtis Evans, Kaitlin Shields, Yvonne Weeres & The Advising Team
From: Andi Diamond & Andrew Huggins
We want to shout out Erin, Val, Curtis, Kaitlin, Yvonne and the whole Advising team, who helped get us set up and prepare us so well for transitioning into our new roles in Advising! Getting new staff set up and well-trained can be a challenging task in normal conditions, much less in the middle of a pandemic, where so much work is happening remotely. Thank you all for being SO very welcoming, patient, and such great supports for us as we joined the team. We are ready to GO and support our students because of all your generous (and seemingly tireless) efforts!

We could not have done it without all of you!
To: The Entire UCCS Community
From: Stephanie Hanenberg
Despite some rumors that have circulated, I wanted to let you all know that thanks to the amazing efforts of faculty, staff, and students, we have been able to keep our COVID-19 numbers very manageable and keep campus open longer than many other schools. The majority of individuals I have spoken with during contact tracing have truly followed the steps put in place to keep campus well and minimize risk to others. Almost half of the positive cases haven't set foot on campus during their infectious period, and the majority of other cases have been extremely cooperative in the process which is a huge help in managing this.
It truly takes a dedicated community to get through something like this and despite the many challenges we have faced, UCCS has a lot to be proud of compared to many other organizations across the nation. Kudos and thank you to everyone for all of your efforts!

To: Ellen Burkart
From: Joanna Bean
Earlier this month, a UCCS parent contacted me with concerns about her daughter, a UCCS freshman who had been in quarantine/isolation. The mother wasn't sure how to access resources, and how to help her daughter connect to them. Her daughter had been having a very successful semester, but quarantine was causing her to fall behind and suffer mental health impacts. I emailed Ellen and Stephanie Hanenberg, who both immediately responded to my request for help, and connected with the student. By the time I emailed the mother again, her daughter had already been contacted by UCCS staff. Ellen's care and concern for students, both individually and on the whole, and for UCCS, are inspiring and make me proud to work here.

Meghan goes above and beyond her job duties every single day. Everyone you talk to is working with Meghan in some way – whether it's on a committee, helping with a student issue, connecting with the businesses in our community, or through teaching she is involved all over campus and in the community!
Meghan has made it her mission to help students succeed on campus and off. Last year Meghan created a new program for the College of Business that helps students to transition from college to a successful career. We have many students who have told us how beneficial the program is and that they are so glad to have been a part of it. We are very lucky to have someone like Meghan on campus.
