Members of the campus and community are invited to welcome Karen Markel, the new dean of the College of Business, to UCCS during a virtual introduction July 9 from 3:30-4 p.m. Register online.
Chancellor Venkat Reddy and Provost Tom Christensen will introduce Markel before she addresses faculty, staff, students, alumni and the business community. There will be time for a short Q&A at the end of the event.
In a welcome letter to campus, Markel wrote, “It was easy to recognize that UCCS is a special university – I was drawn here for many reasons, the first being the obvious commitment to student success from faculty, staff, alumni and the broader business community.”
Markel’s priorities for the College of Business’s growth include expanding Colorado Springs area employer relations, assessing employer and workforce needs and preparing graduates for the types of jobs that will be available in the next five to 10 years.
Markel is the former dean of the College of Business and Public Policy at the University of Alaska Anchorage and was previously at Oakland University of Rochester, Michigan.
