UCCS is one of the top 50 colleges in the nation advancing women in science, technology, engineering and math.
UCCS was recently ranked 50th among public and private universities for the number of women enrolled in STEM programs by San Francisco-based The College Database. UCCS and CU Denver were the only Colorado universities or colleges included in the rankings.
The list identifies fully accredited higher education institutions that offer a breadth of STEM programs, have a high proportion of women enrolled in these programs and have a sizeable volume of women STEM-program graduates. The College Database used information provided by the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, a government resource, in compiling the rankings.

The College Database included programs in STEM and STEM-related activities based on National Science Foundation’s guidelines.
Within its College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, UCCS offers students the opportunity to study anthropology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, physics and psychology. Within the College of Engineering and Applied Science, students can study electrical and computer engineering, computer science, mechanical and aerospace engineering and electrical engineering. The innovative Bachelor of Innovation degree family blends various disciplines such as engineering and business.

Additionally, UCCS through its Center for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education actively promotes STEM education to K-12 students. CSTEME also works closely with teachers to help get students excited about science and math disciplines. CSTEME activities include hosting the recent Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival on campus.
