Fall social media training scheduled

Four training sessions for UCCS staff and faculty members responsible for maintaining or creating department social media sites are scheduled for the fall semester.

The sessions focus on the requirements, responsibilities and expectations of managing an institutional account and covering industry best practices for social media use.

Those who are responsible for managing or maintaining a UCCS institutional account are required to complete a social media terms and conditions form and attend a training session. The form and training dates can be found at: www.uccs.edu/socialmedia/training.html.

Training times and locations follow:

  • Sept. 26, 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Dwire 205
  • Oct. 16, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., UC 126
  • Nov. 21, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., UC 126
  • Dec. 17, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., UC 126

While UCCS does not limit the private use of social media, it is important to realize that the same laws, professional expectations, and guidelines for interacting with students, parents, alumni, donors, media, and other university constituents apply online as in person. As university employees, UCCS faculty and staff represent the university in and outside of the office and classroom .
