Trout the topic for Café Scientifique

Jessica Metcalf, a CU-Boulder researcher, will present “The Journey of Colorado’s Cutthroat Trout” beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Clyde’s in the University Center.

Metcalf will describe the reconstruction of Colorado’s historic diversity of cutthroat trout by sampling and sequencing DNA from 30 museum specimens collected between 1857 and 1889. She will describe her research into six divergent lineages of cutthroat trout, two of which likely became extinct.

Café Scientifique is an informal gathering of scholars and science aficionados who are passionate about debate and friendly discussion with their peers. The event is free and open to the public.
