Pedal power ranging from aging French racers to an adult-sized “Big Wheel” tricycle brought more than 200 faculty, staff and students to Bike Jam festivities Thursday on El Pomar Plaza.
Even smoothies were made with pedal-power at the Office of Sustainability-sponsored event designed to celebrate alternative transportation and begin Bike Month. Music, vendor booths, bike demos, free tune-ups and contests rounded out the festivities.
For the remainder of September, the Office of Sustainability challenges UCCS faculty, staff and students to forego their cars and to walk or use their bike for their daily commute.
Prizes will be awarded to participants who rode the most days and the most miles in the month.
