Cindy Corwin, director, Human Resources, recently received the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the Society of Human Resource Management. The certification required passage of rigorous exams in human resources practices, polices and principles.
UCCS will join other leading universities working to increase the number of math and science teachers in the U.S. by offering the nationally regarded UTeach program this year. UCCS was recently selected as an expansion site for UTeach, a successful program developed in 1997 at the University of Texas. (More)
The new, 1,250-seat UCCS event center will bear the name of a family of eight UCCS alums. James L. “Jim” Gallogly, a 1974 graduate, and his wife, Janet, on behalf of the Gallogly family, have pledged to donate $1 million to the CU Foundation. The donation will be used to help fund the $9 million campus event center scheduled for a 4 p.m.today grand opening and for other campus needs. It is the first full UCCS building named in honor of a campus alum. (More)
The UCCS College of Business was awarded a $1.25 million grant this week to help further instill a high standard of ethics in students attending the university.

Longtime University of Colorado general counsel Charles “Charlie” Sweet will continue to assist the university in a new role. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak announced that Sweet will begin work for UCCS as executive director of strategic planning and initiatives. (More)
