{"id":9486,"date":"2013-02-07T14:13:36","date_gmt":"2013-02-07T21:13:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=9486"},"modified":"2018-01-19T10:06:02","modified_gmt":"2018-01-19T17:06:02","slug":"new-policy-allows-working-title-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=9486","title":{"rendered":"New policy allows working title changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new campus policy on working titles designed to apply to long-serving administrators with outstanding performance became effective Jan. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Campus policy 300-018 puts into place procedures for vice chancellors or associate vice chancellors to receive changes in their working titles in recognition of meritorious service over a period of years. Working titles differ from official titles and are intended to better describe day-to-day duties, according to Cindy Corwin, director, Department of Human Resources.<\/p>\n<p>The title changes do not include additional wages and are temporary, meaning that once the current office holder leaves his or her job, the working title will be eliminated.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the new policy and its application to three UCCS administrators, Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak emphasized that no new administrative positions were added, that no salaries were increased, that policy 300-018 received the endorsement of faculty and staff governance groups and academic deans, and that the title changes align UCCS positions with those at other CU campuses. Provost-select Mary Coussons-Read was also consulted.<\/p>\n<p>Andrea Hutchins, associate professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Faculty Assembly president, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Faculty Assembly Executive Committee is pleased that this policy will allow these individuals to be recognized for all of the work they accomplish for UCCS and supports its implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those receiving new working titles effective March 1 are:<\/p>\n<p><b>David Moon<\/b>, currently interim executive vice chancellor of academic affairs and provost, will become vice provost and associate vice chancellor. He will report to Provost Mary Coussons-Read. Moon previously held senior associate vice chancellor and associate vice chancellor positions dating to 2000.<\/p>\n<p><b>Brian Burnett,<\/b> currently vice chancellor for administration and finance, will become senior executive vice chancellor for administration and finance. He will report to Shockley-Zalabak. Burnett has held the vice chancellor position since July 2003.<\/p>\n<p><b>Susan Szpyrka,<\/b> currently senior associate vice chancellor, will become vice chancellor for administration and finance reporting to Burnett.
