Homecoming service project<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Thirty members of the UCCS community kicked off Homecoming week by\u00a0picking up litter on campus and in surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

Throughout the week faculty, staff and students partook in a photo\u00a0scavenger\u00a0hunt, searching for a cardboard cutout of Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak. Upon finding the cutout, they were asked to take a picture to be shared on Facebook and Twitter.\u00a0More than\u00a080 photos were\u00a0submitted.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of students in UCCS gear show their school spirit by walking en masse from to Mountain Lion Stadium to watch the men’s and women’s soccer teams take on\u00a0Colorado Christian University.<\/p>\n

While both teams won their games, the highlight of the night was a halftime flashmob dance to\u00a0Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song “Call Me Maybe.” More than 75 individuals participated, including Shockley-Zalabak.<\/p>\n

The UCCS Homecoming Formal and Casino Night saw it’s largest turnout with more than 1,000 students showing up throughout the night.<\/p>\n

“Overall, the week was very successful,” Brad Bayer,\u00a0executive director, Student Life and Leadership, said.\u00a0 “We had solid student involvement, and the largest turnout we’ve had.”<\/p>\n
