{"id":748,"date":"2010-04-15T12:06:02","date_gmt":"2010-04-15T18:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=748"},"modified":"2010-04-15T12:06:02","modified_gmt":"2010-04-15T18:06:02","slug":"alum-motivates-undergraduates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=748","title":{"rendered":"Alum motivates undergraduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Colorado Springs Undergraduate Research Forum drew a record crowd Saturday to hear John Herrington, class of 1983, and the first Native American astronaut talk about his experiences as a student, a pilot and as an astronaut.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 students representing the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado College and UCCS attended the forum and shared their ideas. For the opening of the day-long event, Herrington shared his path from university academic probation to being one of 400 people in the world who have traveled in space.<\/p>\n<p>Herrington shared his personal story, photographs and video of his mission aboard Endeavor, and encouraged the students to pursue dreams and ideas.
