The first UCCS Department of Athletics Hall of Fame induction April 17 was a roaring success with a sellout crowd celebrating the achievements of three former student-athletes and the first women\u2019s basketball coach.<\/p>\n

More than 250 current and former UCCS athletes and department supporters paid $40 each for dinner at Berger Hall and the opportunity to fete Greg Meyer, the first UCCS All-American in men\u2019s soccer, Crystal Krebs, an All-American and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year in softball, Trent Briney, a four-time All-American and Olympic track star and Celia Slater, the first UCCS women\u2019s basketball coach. The proceeds from the event will be used for athletic scholarships at UCCS.<\/p>\n

Each of the recipients reminisced about his or her time at UCCS, thanked the university for its role in helping them achieve success and complimented improved athletic venues constructed in recent years including Mountain Lion Field and the Gallogly Events Center.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hall of Fame could not have been a better way to begin tradition that will last of the rest of UCCS athletic history,\u201d Steve Kirkham, director, Athletic Department, said.<\/p>\n
