{"id":6714,"date":"2012-04-18T14:42:25","date_gmt":"2012-04-18T20:42:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=6714"},"modified":"2018-01-06T17:52:12","modified_gmt":"2018-01-07T00:52:12","slug":"new-faculty-assembly-officers-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=6714","title":{"rendered":"New Faculty Assembly officers announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UCCS Faculty Assembly President-elect Andrea Hutchins, associate professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, announced election results for the 2012-2013 academic year as part of her report at the April 13 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Results were disseminated by email April 6, but Hutchins presented updates.<\/p>\n<p>Her year as president-elect completed, Hutchins will ascend to the presidency. Current President Katie Kaukinen, associate professor, School of Public Affairs, will continue to serve on the assembly executive board as past president.<\/p>\n<p>Election results for 2012-2013 follow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Officers<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>President-elect: Amanda Elder, assistant professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences.<\/li>\n<li>Secretary: Jeff Spicher, assistant professor-clinical teaching track, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty Council representative: Christina Martinez, senior instructor, Kraemer Family Library.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>College representatives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>College of Business and Administration: Monique Dooley, associate professor, and Morgan Shepherd, professor.<\/li>\n<li>College of Education: Christi Kasa, associate professor, and Jim Saunders, senior instructor.<\/li>\n<li>College of Engineering and Applied Science: Pam Carter, senior instructor, and Rebecca Webb, assistant professor.<\/li>\n<li>Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences: Kathy Blair, professor, and Craig Elder, instructor.<\/li>\n<li>School of Public Affairs: Michael Martinez, senior instructor.<\/li>\n<li>Kraemer Family Library: Carla Myers, assistant professor.<\/li>\n<li>College of Letters, Arts and Sciences: Suzanne Cook, senior instructor, Department of Languages and Cultures; Debra Dew, associate professor, Department of English; Curt Holder, associate professor, Department of Geography and Environmental Studies; Christine Robinson, instructor, Department of English; David Weiss, associate professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry; and Andrea Wenker, instructor, Department of English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Initially, Hutchins said, there was a tie for the position of representative from Beth-El, mandating a run-off election. Blair won the position when the other candidate dropped out of the running.<\/p>\n<p>A write-in candidate was entered as the seventh LAS representative, but that individual did not wish to accept the position, Hutchins said, so there is still a need for a representative.<\/p>\n<p>In other action, the document \u201cUCCS Policy: Lecturer, Instructor and Senior Rights and Responsibilities\u201d received minor corrections to its text, and was unanimously approved by the assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>UCCS Faculty Assembly President-elect Andrea Hutchins, associate professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, announced election results for the 2012-2013 academic year as part of her report at the April 13 meeting.
