{"id":6670,"date":"2012-04-12T16:24:31","date_gmt":"2012-04-12T22:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=6670"},"modified":"2012-04-12T16:24:31","modified_gmt":"2012-04-12T22:24:31","slug":"u-s-news-rankings-include-business-engineering-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=6670","title":{"rendered":"U.S. News rankings include business, engineering programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UCCS programs in engineering and business scored in the 2013 edition of America\u2019s Best Graduate Schools published by <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cAmerica\u2019s Graduate Schools\u201d 2013 print edition highlights the nation\u2019s top programs, citing those in the nation\u2019s top 100 public and private universities. In the print version, the 29<sup>th<\/sup> ranked School of Public Affairs was recognized along with programs at CU Denver, CU Boulder and the Anschutz Medical Campus. On the <em>U.S. News and World Report<\/em> website, more in-depth rankings are available.<\/p>\n<p>For the UCCS College of Engineering, the <em>U.S. News<\/em> ranking of 144 is a source of pride.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/New3GradCountdown-EduHome-comingsoon400x267.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6672\" title=\"New3GradCountdown-EduHome-comingsoon400x267\" src=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/New3GradCountdown-EduHome-comingsoon400x267-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/New3GradCountdown-EduHome-comingsoon400x267-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/New3GradCountdown-EduHome-comingsoon400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u201cOur college\u2019s inclusion in the national <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em> rankings of the best graduate schools is an important accomplishment,\u201d said R.\u201cDan\u201d Dandapani, dean, College of Engineering and Applied Science. \u201cStudents throughout the region, nation and even internationally use these rankings to help them make their enrollment decisions. We will promote the new ranking throughout our outreach materials as we continue to recruit top engineering and computer science students for UCCS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tied in the ranking with UCCS were programs at Montana State University, North Carolina State A&amp;T, University of Idaho, University of Rhode Island, University of Wyoming and Virginia Commonwealth University. Just ahead of UCCS were schools such as California State University-Long Beach, the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Tulsa.<\/p>\n<p>At the UCCS College of Business, feelings are similar about the college\u2019s 141 ranking in the part-time MBA category.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are honored to be including in the rankings again alongside some of the other excellent AACSB-accredited schools,&#8221; Venkat Reddy, dean, College of Business, said. &#8221;\u00a0This is a testament to the hard work of our faculty and staff in collaboration with all our stakeholders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tied in the ranking with UCCS were programs at California State University, Fresno, Northern Illinois University, Old Dominion University, Pennsylvania State University, Erie, University of South Florida, University of Tulsa and Wichita State University. Just ahead of UCCS were schools such as the University of Texas, Arlington, the University of San Francisco, the University of Portland, Portland State University and the University of Maine.<\/p>\n<p><em>U.S. News<\/em> uses a matrix of data points to compile its rankings. For engineering, the factors include peer assessment, corporate recruiter assessments, student selectivity, GRE quantitative scores, acceptance rates, faculty resources, student to faculty ratio, percent of faculty in the National Academy of Engineering, doctoral degrees awarded, research activity, total research expenditures and average research expenditures per faculty member.
