{"id":6121,"date":"2012-02-24T11:25:47","date_gmt":"2012-02-24T18:25:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=6121"},"modified":"2018-01-19T10:17:24","modified_gmt":"2018-01-19T17:17:24","slug":"provost-search-committee-selected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=6121","title":{"rendered":"Provost search committee selected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 16-member search committee will assist in the selection of a new UCCS provost, Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen\u00a0faculty and staff members were selected following nominations by campus governance groups. A student representative will be added before the committee\u2019s first meeting on March 5. At that meeting, the committee will review a position description and advertising plan.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 7, Provost Peg Bacon announced her plan to retire effective July 1 after 34 years of service to the university.<\/p>\n<p>The committee will be co-chaired by Terry Schwartz, associate dean, School of Public Affairs, and Charlie Sweet, executive director, Strategic Planning and Initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Other committee members are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Suzanne Cook, instructor, Languages and Cultures Department<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Czaplewski, professor, College of Business<\/li>\n<li>Julaine Field, associate professor, College of Education<\/li>\n<li>Barbara Gaddis, executive director, Office of Student Retention and First Year Experience<\/li>\n<li>Tom Hutton, executive director, University Advancement<\/li>\n<li>Katie Kaukinen, associate professor, School of Public Affairs<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Ketsdever , assistant professor, College of Engineering and Applied Science<\/li>\n<li>Tom Napierkowski, professor, English Department<\/li>\n<li>Ellen Pettijohn, assistant director, Office of Student Retention and First Year Experience<\/li>\n<li>Jevita Rogers, director, Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment<\/li>\n<li>Natalie Skaggs, account technician, Bookstore<\/li>\n<li>Jeff Spicher, assistant professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Susan Szpyrka, senior associate vice chancellor, Administration and Finance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Article updated\u00a0with additional members March 1, 2012<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>A 16-member search committee will assist in the selection of a new UCCS provost, Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak announced Friday.
