\"Winter<\/a>As fall turns into winter, it is a UCCS\u00a0 priority to continue to provide a safe environment to faculty, staff and students.<\/p>\n

The UCCS Department of Public Safety recently provided guidance about checking the status of campus closures.<\/p>\n

The six ways to find out about UCCS campus closures are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Text message.<\/strong> Those who have registered for the campus emergency notification system, e2Campus, will\u00a0 receive a text message notification of weather-related campus closures. To receive emergency-related text messages, visit https:\/\/e2campus.uccs.edu\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Phone.<\/strong> Call the campus emergency notification line, 255-3346.<\/li>\n
  3. Email.<\/strong> In the event of closure, email is sent to faculty, staff and student lists.<\/li>\n
  4. Internet.<\/strong> Visit\u00a0\u00a0http:\/\/www.flashalert.net\/news.html?id=502<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Television.<\/strong> Watch Colorado Springs stations KOAA, KRDO, KKTV or KXRM or Denver stations KCNC, KWGN, KMGH, KUSA, KOA or\u00a0KCEC.<\/li>\n
  6. Radio.<\/strong> Listen to KYZX, KVUU, KRDO, KILO, KVOR, KRCC, KTLF, KCME, KCMN, KKLI, KCBR, PEAK, KSKX, KKCS, KBIQ, KBZC, KKFM, KKMG, KMOM, KCCY, KZNT, KGFT in Colorado Springs or KCSJ, KDZA, KNKN, KRMX, KGHF in Pueblo.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In a recent memo to the campus, the Department of Public Safety outlined the campus closure process and timeline.<\/p>\n

    “The primary premise for weather-related cancellation of classes at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is that the University will remain open in all but the most extreme circumstances. However, all university employees and students are urged to use their own discretion in deciding whether they can safely commute to class or to work.\u00a0If personal health or safety is at issue in the decision, responsible judgment should be used. The authority to cancel regularly scheduled classes rests with the vice chancellor for administration and finance. Every attempt will be made to announce this decision by no later than 6:00 a.m. each day for morning and afternoon classes or 3:00 p.m. for evening classes. Unpredictable weather or other unforeseen emergencies may result in a change to this timeline.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
