A person on campus can touch a button on a personal cell phone and bring help to his or her exact location.

UCCS has integrated MyForce, a personal security service, into its campus safety procedures, allowing smartphone users instant contact with campus security and other emergency responders. Subscribers using any iPhone, Android or BlackBerry smartphone can alert authorities to emergency situations.

“We are excited to be partnering with MyForce,” said Jim Spice, executive director, Department of Public Safety. “This cutting edge technology will help ensure the safety of our campus community. We know the UCCS students, staff, and faculty will benefit from MyForce and its excellent safety program.”

MyForce employs GPS technology to provide an exact location and transmits the subscriber’s physical description, photo, medical conditions and known safety issues to public safety personnel when that individual is within campus borders. It sends the data to other local emergency responders when he or she is off campus. Once the signal is sent, MyForce creates an audio recording of the incident, continues to track the user’s precise location and streams audio to emergency response teams.

The MyForce Campus System is available to college campuses at no cost with the service available to individual users for a monthly or annual fee. MyForce is available on iPhone, Blackberry, and Android devices and works across all carrier networks.

To subscribe to MyForce, visit the iTunes App Store, BlackBerry App World, or Android Marketplace to download the MyForce application and then follow the registration instructions online to complete service. Subscriptions cost $11.99 per month or $119 annually. A discount to $89 per year is available by entering the promotional code UCCS8911.
