The director of student financial aid at George Mason University, Fairfax, Va., will lead the student finance and employment office at UCCS, university officials announced July 13.<\/p>\n

Jevita R. Rogers, currently director of the Office of Student Financial Aid at Mason, will begin at UCCS Aug. 8. Her appointment was announced by Homer Wesley, vice chancellor, Student Success and Enrollment Management.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge Mason is a highly respected public university that serves a student demographic that is very similar to UCCS,\u201d Wesley said. \u201cJevita Rogers\u2019 experience and track record of success will serve UCCS students and their families well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogers replaces Lee Ingalls Noble who has served as interim director since Jan. 2011. Noble was appointed interim director following the resignation of Robert Bode. Noble was director of the Office of Student Financial Aid from 1984 to 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe owe a great deal of gratitude to Lee for returning to the university following her retirement,\u201d Wesley said. \u201cShe provided stability and helped ensure that UCCS students got the help they needed to meet their goal of a top-quality college education.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since 2001, Rogers has served as Mason\u2019s director of the Office of Student Financial Aid, distributing more than $277 million in financial aid funds to 14,500 students of the 35,000 students enrolled at Virginia\u2019s largest university. She joined the Mason Office of Student Financial Aid in 1992 as a financial aid counselor and also served as assistant director and acting director. Her professional career in student financial aid began in 1989.<\/p>\n

Her professional activities include serving as a member of the NCAA Division I Awards, Benefits and Financial Aid Cabinet, serving as chairperson of the NCAA Rule Compliance Committee, conducting approximately 35 financial aid workshops yearly for civic groups annually and membership in the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She also contributed chapters to the book, \u201cHow to Pay for College\u201d and was featured in the Fine Living Network Special \u201cHow to Go to College\u201d where she explained the financial aid process.\u00a0 In 2005, she received Mason\u2019s Margaret C. Howell Award which is given annually to those who display evidence of work that promotes respect, diversity and individual dignity. She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from New England College, Henniker, N.H.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am most excited to be joining the UCCS student success team and look forward to assisting UCCS students and families with financing their education as well as assisting students to become educated consumers along the way,\u201d Rogers said.<\/p>\n

The UCCS Office of Student Financial Aid and Student Employment is responsible for the administration of public and private grants and scholarships, assisting students with student loans, and assisting with employment on- and off-campus.<\/p>\n
