The director of undergraduate programs for the College of Business will become director of advising and orientation effective July 1.<\/p>\n

Greg Augspurger, director of undergraduate programs for the College of Business since 2008, was hired following a regional search. He will be responsible for university-wide academic advising and new student orientation and will report to Barbara Gaddis, executive director, Division of Student Success.\u00a0 Gaddis will have overall responsibility for student advising, student retention and the Office of First Year Experience.<\/p>\n

Homer Wesely , vice chancellor, Student Success and Enrollment Management, announced Augspurger\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreg brings a unique combination of experience as an academic advisor, as a financial advisor in private practice and as a college-level administrator,\u201d Wesley said. \u201cI believe his experiences will provide students an excellent advising experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

As director of undergraduate programs for the College of Business, Augspurger managed daily operations of the college\u2019s undergraduate programs including providing career planning and academic guidance to current and future students. He also assisted with the implementation of schedule changes to accommodate non-traditional students, coordinated undergraduate certificate and extended studies programs, and managed enrollments and adjunct faculty to ensure students got required courses in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

In addition to serving as director of undergraduate programs, Augspurger taught an information science course as well as a freshman seminar course called \u201cOff and Running.\u201d The course included preparing students for college academic rigor and\u00a0 to run a half-marathon.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the College of Business, he served as a financial advisor for a private firm and, for five years, as an academic advisor in the Student Success Center where he worked closely with the College of Engineering and Applied Science, the College of Letters, Arts and Science, and Pikes Peak Community College.<\/p>\n

In 2010, he earned the College of Business Outstanding Staff Award. He also serves on the Pikes Peak Community College Business Advisory Board and serves as a student mentor for the Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness and Community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited about making this move,\u201d Augspurger said. \u201c\u00a0I know that I get the chance to lead a great group of people and have the opportunity to implement changes that will have a positive impact on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Augspurger earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Ind., a master\u2019s in counseling and human services from UCCS, and a master\u2019s of business administration from UCCS.<\/p>\n

Augspurger replaces Sue Mitchell who will retire from UCCS July 1 after 21 years including almost 12 years as director of the Student Success Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
