{"id":4016,"date":"2011-06-13T17:01:18","date_gmt":"2011-06-13T23:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=4016"},"modified":"2011-06-13T17:01:18","modified_gmt":"2011-06-13T23:01:18","slug":"marquez-scholars-%e2%80%9cgo-away-to-college%e2%80%9d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=4016","title":{"rendered":"Marquez Scholars \u201cgo away to college\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/IMG_1028.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4017\" title=\"IMG_1028\" src=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/IMG_1028-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Marquez Scholars\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a>Twenty students from 18 Denver public high schools participated in the Marquez Scholars Summer Institute at UCCS May 31 to June 11.<\/p>\n<p>The Institute included a three-credit college class on social change, visits with local leaders, and an outdoor leadership course at The Nature Place near Florissant.\u00a0 The students also had the opportunity to meet Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, CU President Bruce Benson and Gov.
