{"id":3953,"date":"2011-05-18T11:05:32","date_gmt":"2011-05-18T17:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=3953"},"modified":"2011-05-18T11:11:58","modified_gmt":"2011-05-18T17:11:58","slug":"nelson-wins-2011-nightingale-luminary-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=3953","title":{"rendered":"Nelson wins 2011 Nightingale Luminary Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9261.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3956\" title=\"IMG_9261\" src=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/IMG_9261-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Jenenne Nelson, dean, Graduate School and professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences was recognized as a 2011 Nightingale Luminary Award winner.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson was recognized for her excellence in nursing professional engagement and citizenship in \u201cAdministrator, Educator, Researcher, or Non-Traditional Roles for Leadership.\u201d The Luminary Awards were presented to regional award recipients.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Nurses Foundation hosted the 26th annual Nightingale Luminary Awards on Saturday, May 14, in Denver.<\/p>\n<p>The Nightingale Awards for Excellence in Human Caring\u00a0was founded in 1985 to honor nurses who best exemplify the philosophy and practice of Florence Nightingale, a 19th century nursing pioneer who epitomized the art of helping people toward their optimal health.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Nurses Foundation (CNF)\u00a0is the organization planning this statewide event. The Colorado Springs Nightingale and Western Slope Nightingale are part of the CNF state-wide planning committee. CNF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to improving health care and nursing practice in Colorado.
