The generosity of the UCCS community in three different food drives resulted in more than 12,500 items of food that will be available for students in need at Clyde\u2019s Cupboard.<\/p>\n

The cupboard is located within the Student Life Lounge inside the University Center and open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On their first visit, students will need to complete a check-in sheet to verify enrollment and need, and a valid UCCS ID card on each visit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have an amazing campus community who steps up to help the students in need on our campus,\u2019 said Ray Fisco, prevention and outreach manager in the Dean of Students Office. \u201cThis is a team effort, and with the additional support of the Parking and Transportation Office and one of the GPS classes, we were able to stock the pantry and provide resources for UCCS students who need it most.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fisco received volunteer help from students Haley Slezoksy, Heather Marx, Sarah Fraiser, Victoria Asuquo, Regan Welsh and Dani Browne, along with students from the UCCSLead program. Carlie Snethen, a graduate student working in the Dean of Students Office, also coordinated the department food drive, which included tracking each department’s points throughout the four-week drive.<\/p>\n

Clyde\u2019s Cupboard accepts food donations at any time. Individuals interested in donating can contact Fisco at (719) 255-3829.<\/p>\n

Department Food Drive<\/strong>
\nThe Dean of Students Office coordinated a four-week, 24-department competition, with bonus points each week for certain items. The Office of Financial Aid, Student Employment and Scholarships won with 4,783 points. The Office of Residence Life and Housing finished second with 2,262 points and the Office of Information Technology finished third with 1,609 points. The department food drive accounted for approximately 10,000 items.<\/p>\n

\nThe inaugural Food for Fines program resulted in more than 1,500 items for Clyde\u2019s Cupboard. Parking tickets from the fall semester would be waived with 10 food items for each ticket. The drive was featured in KRDO\u2019s \u201cPositively Colorado\u201d segment Nov. 15<\/a>.<\/p>\n

GPS Class Drive<\/strong>
