The School of Public Affairs and the Colorado Springs Chamber & Economic Development Corporation marked 25 years of partnership during the chamber and EDC\u2019s annual gala Nov. 3. Dean George Reed represented the school in a private reception before the gala at The Broadmoor.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re proud to partner with the chamber and for the work that they do on behalf of the city\u2019s businesses, organizations and non-profits,\u201d Reed said. \u201cWe look forward to another 25 years as we work together and make Colorado Springs one of the best places to live, work and learn.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through the graduate programs in public administration and criminal justice, the School of Public Affairs has served as the education choice for several community leaders in the nonprofit, government and law enforcement areas. The Public Safety Initiative launched in 2017 has provided training in leadership development, ethics, resilience, officer wellness, school safety, diversity and policing in multicultural settings, and cybercrime to hundreds of law enforcement officers in the Rocky Mountain West.<\/p>\n

John Suthers, the current mayor of Colorado Springs and former attorney general for Colorado, previously taught courses at UCCS in criminal justice. The John Suthers Scholarship Endowment Fund<\/a> is the largest fund in the School of Public Affairs and helps junior and senior undergraduate students who seek careers in public service.<\/p>\n

The School of Public Affairs offers a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, master’s degrees in public administration and criminal justice, one undergraduate certificate in homeland security and seven graduate certificates. The school also offers two dual bachelor degrees in criminal justice in coordination with psychology and sociology, an accelerated bachelor’s and master’s program in criminal justice, dual master’s degrees in public administration and criminal justice, and a dual master’s degree in public administration and sociology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
