Caitlin Lowans, the new artistic director of Theatreworks, will discuss Shakespeare in the community and her vision for the regional company as the featured scholar\u00a0in the first Prologue series of the 2018-19 season. The session \u201cShakespeare, Community and the Park\u201d will take place at 5:30 p.m. August 12 before the scheduled performance of \u201cMacbeth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowans began as artistic director August 1 after a national search. She has more than 50 directing credits in Boston and Chicago. Kevin Landis, associate professor, Visual and Performing Arts, will conduct a guided conversation with Lowans about the power of Shakespeare to connect communities, the current production of \u201cMacbeth\u201d and her vision for Theatreworks.<\/p>\n

Admission is free, but space is limited and registration is encouraged<\/a>. Tickets for \u201cMacbeth\u201d are separate and can be purchased at uccspresents.org<\/a> or by calling (719) 255-3232.<\/p>\n

Prologue is sponsored by the Chancellor’s Office, Theatreworks, the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, and the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
