The UCCS Student Health Center will offer free screenings at its annual Health Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5 in Berger Hall.<\/p>\n
In an effort to promote living a healthy life style, the Student Health Center has collaborated with Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences to conduct multiple free health screenings that include checking cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure for all UCCS students, staff and faculty.<\/p>\n
Stephanie Hanenberg, director, Student Health Center, believes it is important for the campus community to participate so that they may take advantage of the screenings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are services that they may not have easy access to,\u201d Hanenberg said.<\/p>\n
Of last year\u2019s participants, Hanenberg believes close to half of the 370+ people who attended were faculty or staff members.<\/p>\n
Hanenberg believes that a healthy lifestyle has a direct effect on other aspects of an individual\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt gives a better quality of life,\u201d Haneberg said. \u201cPeople generally feel better and are more productive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another highlight is free chair massages that are available to all attendees. Three massage therapists will be present including Chrissie Bailey, LMT, UCCS\u2019 resident massage therapist, as well as three to four massage therapy students from Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy.<\/p>\n
Along with the free screenings there will be more than 45 vendors from both on and off campus resources present with information on healthy lifestyle options.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
