Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne celebrated the accomplishments in a ceremony at the State Capitol May 2 ahead of Teacher Appreciation Week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to see Kaitlyn and Marcus recognized as part of the Colorado Future Educator Honor Roll,&#8221; said Valerie Martin Conley, dean, College of Education. &#8220;These two students exemplify the characteristics we seek in educators\u2014professionalism, integrity and the demonstration of care for children at all grade levels.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pumphrey earned degrees in political science and history from UCCS in 2009 and is earning his master\u2019s degree in curriculum and instruction. He teaches sixth grade social studies at Panorama Middle School at Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs. He was cited as a \u201crole model of professionalism\u201d by his colleagues and demonstrates strong instructional skills, student engagement with relevant lessons and helping students understand their roles and responsibilities in a democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Ball is earning her bachelor\u2019s degree in inclusive early childhood education and was recognized for \u201cthe highest standards of quality academic work throughout her degree program.\u201d Her nomination portfolio referenced exceeding expectations among faculty and field supervisors, leadership, ethical practice and professional demeanor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ceremony recognizes the tremendous impact our future educators will have on their students and the state of Colorado broadly,\u201d said Kim Hunter Reed, executive director, Colorado Department of Higher Education. \u201cEducators are training the next generation of artists, engineers, scientists and health professionals that will power our economy and enliven our communities. They truly make all other professional possible. We want all teachers and administrators \u2013 and especially our young educators \u2013 to know Coloradans support and appreciate their invaluable work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Future Educator Honor Roll recognized 47 teacher candidates to kick off Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week May 7-11.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Lt.
