2017 Colorado Mathematical Olympiad first place winners<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Elected officials will join leaders from UCCS, school districts and businesses to honor the award winners of the 35th Colorado Mathematical Olympiad on the UCCS campus. The awards ceremony takes place at 2 p.m. May 4 in Berger Hall.<\/p>\n

An estimated 400 middle and high school students from around the state will meet for the competition April 27. The event is the largest essay-type mathematical competition in the United States with participants competing against one another. Suggested participation levels are grades 6 through 12, though no student is excluded. Registration is free and can be completed\u00a0online<\/a>. There is no limit on the number of schools or students who may participate.<\/p>\n

Wolfram Research, Springer Publishing and the UCCS Chancellor\u2019s Office provides prizes and scholarships. UCCS will offer gold, silver and bronze medalists a scholarship. Other prizes include math software and books written by Alexander Soifer, CMO and professor, Interdepartmental Studies.
