Campus now boasts a 27-foot climbing wall with more than 1,000-square-feet of climbing space for faculty, staff and students to enjoy.<\/p>\n

The newly renovated climbing wall made its debut during the annual Wellness Revolution at the Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center. Students, faculty and staff gathered outside the S.O.L.E. Center as opening remarks were made.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe climbing wall contains a variety of exciting features that will provide recreation opportunities for 500-plus students and visitors on any given day,\u201d Carlos Garcia, associate vice chancellor, Student Success said.<\/p>\n

The wall has six TrueBlue auto belay climbing lanes with routes for all skill levels. Routes are updated every three to four weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to make the wall as accessible as possible \u2013 that\u2019s where the auto belays came in \u2013 visitors don\u2019t need to worry about having a climbing partner, they can go up and down as much as they want,\u201d Chris Ertman, program coordinator, Campus Recreation Center said.<\/p>\n

A student-led recreation advisory board formed the climbing wall initiative last spring in response to student demand. The previous bouldering wall was 15-feet and only provided 400-square-feet of bouldering space, Skyler Rorabaugh, director, Campus Recreation Center said.<\/p>\n

The S.O.L.E Center expanded hours of operation with the new wall, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n
