Cascade Ave. The presentations are part of the 2017 UCCS Economic Forum, now entering its 21st year. To register, individuals can go to www.uccseconomicforum.com. Check-in begins at 1 p.m.

The forum offers national, regional and local perspectives intended to help individuals, local government and businesses prepare. The forum is a community outreach effort of the UCCS College of Business.

“The UCCS Economic Forum is the premier resource for local economic information,” Bailey said. “This information is provided for—and supported by—local businesses and is an opportunity to learn about the trends and dynamics occurring nationally, statewide, and in our community.”

Individual cost of attendance is $80. Those interested in obtaining real estate continuing education credits pay $100.

At 1:45 p.m., Erik Davidson, chief investment officer, and Michael Serio, regional chief investment officer, Wells Fargo, will deliver a keynote address providing a national and international economic outlook.

At 2:45 p.m., Tatiana Bailey will present the economic conditions and outlook for the Pikes Peak Region. She is a leading expert on health economics, policy and urban economic development, and has directed the forum since June 2014. Previously, she worked on various economic development and health-related grants and contracts in Michigan and taught economics courses. In addition to directing the forum, she holds the position of attendant rank assistant professor in the College of Business.

Davidson is executive vice president and the chief investment officer for Wells Fargo Private Bank where he oversees more than $190 billion in assets. He leads investment professionals throughout the country who deliver comprehensive, custom, and diversified portfolio management for clients of The Private Bank. Davidson serves as the primary spokesperson for The Private Bank investment strategy and oversees global equity and fixed-income portfolio management and research, guided portfolios, investment product, investment tools and investment analytics.

Serio is the regional chief investment officer for the Mountain Northwest region of Wells Fargo Private Bank. Serio serves as the investment thought leader in the region by providing insight and interpretation of the economy and financial markets at client events and through written commentary.

For more information about the keynote address speakers, visit http://www.uccseconomicforum.com/speakers.shtml

UCCS Chancellor Venkat Reddy will provide a welcome and Samuel Elliott, a recent UCCS graduate and co-founder of Tejon Technologies, will preside as master of ceremonies. Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers will address the group via video.

Including Elliott as a representative of young community entrepreneurs represents a change in the forum’s format. Another change Bailey will institute this year is substituting online data in lieu of printed programs. The move to online information is supportive of community sustainability but also means information at the forum will be the latest available.

“I fully anticipate that we’ll be updating the website the morning of the forum,” Bailey said. “Those who attend are assured of getting the most up-to-date information that we have at our disposal.”

UCCS College of Business professors Tom Zwirlein and Jeff Ferguson started the forum in 1997, then known as the Southern Colorado Economic Forum. Later, Fred Crowley, a senior instructor in the College of Business, worked with Zwirlein and helped build the forum into a half-day event. Bailey joined the forum in 2014 as Zwirlein and Crowley retired. In 2016, the forum’s name changed to UCCS Economic Forum to reflect a broader scope and UCCS roots.

UCCS Economic Forum a much different event after 20 years

Tatiana Bailey, director, UCCS Economic Forum, as well as local and regional experts, will share forecasts for the local, national and international economies from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the Antlers Hotel, 4 S.
