More than 50 new faculty members joined UCCS this fall.\u00a0In the next few weeks, they will be introduced to the campus. Today, meet\u00a0six assistant and associate professors from the College of Engineering and Applied Science, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and School of Public Affairs.<\/p>\n

Farida Khan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Farida Khan<\/strong>, associate professor, Economics Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Khan was previously a professor of economics and economic department chair at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Kenosha, Wisconsin. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and State University, a master’s degree from Northeastern University and a Ph.D. from University of Maryland.<\/p>\n

Catherine Simmons<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Catherine Simmons<\/strong>, associate professor, School of Public Affairs. Simmons was previously a section instructor at Simmons College’s\u00a0School of Social Work, Boston, Massachusetts, and an associate professor at University of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee. She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Delaware, master’s degrees from Wilmington College and Delaware State University and a Ph.D. from University of Texas at Arlington.<\/p>\n

Kay Yoon<\/strong>, associate professor, Communication Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Yoon was previously an associate professor, College of Communication, DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and master\u2019s and Ph.D. degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.<\/p>\n

Xin (Cindy) Wan<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Xin \u201cCindy\u201d Wang<\/strong>, assistant professor, Mechanical\u00a0and Aerospace Engineering Department, College of Engineering and Applied Science. Wang was previously a postdoctoral researcher for the United States Army Research Laboratory. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and master\u2019s and Ph.D. degrees from California Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n

YongJei Lee<\/strong>, assistant professor, School of Public Affairs. Lee was previously a research assistant, instructor, and guest lecturer at the School of Criminal Justice, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Seoul National University, a master’s\u00a0from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. from University of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n

Verlan Lewis<\/strong>, assistant professor, Political Science Department, College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. Lewis was previously an instructor at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, an instructor at Southern Virginia University, Buena Vista, Virginia, and a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University. Lewis earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Brigham Young University, a master\u2019s degree from Cambridge University, and a Ph.D. from University of Virginia.<\/p>\n
