The 2016 Colorado Combined Campaign, which ran from September through the end of December, exceeded its\u00a0goal.<\/p>\n

In 2015, the campaign raised $20,898 and Co-chairs Stacey Howell, customer service specialist, UCCS Event Services, and Gudrun McCollum, library technician, Kraemer Family Library, believe the 2016 campaign will surpass last year by more than $1,000. The\u00a0duo\u00a0launched a creative email campaign to garner attention. The response was impressive. Though they didn\u2019t anticipate breaking the record, Howell and McCollum attribute the success of the campaign to the generosity of the staff and faculty.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have always had incredible support from the chancellor and her leadership team. Our staff and faculty were extraordinarily generous this year,\u201d Howell said.<\/p>\n

Since its inception in 1988, the Colorado Combined Campaign raised more than $32 million for Colorado non-profits. The campaign allows state employees to support Colorado charitable organizations. More than 600 agencies participated in the 2016-2017 campaign including TESSA, Homeward Pikes Peak, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak region, Urban Peak, and Care and Share.<\/p>\n

\u201cUCCS is one of our greatest supporters in Southern Colorado. The university really sets the pace for organizations in the Pikes Peak region,\u201d Becky Herlinger, director, Colorado Combined Campaign, said.<\/p>\n

The simplified donation process helped increase participation. Contributions can be made via mobile devices with a QR code or via an online link.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so much easier than it used to be when people had to fill out paperwork and mail it in. The online option has made giving very uncomplicated,\u201d McCollum said.<\/p>\n

The campaign supports organizations across the state but it also benefits UCCS students who receive services from groups such as the Operation Restored Warrior Project from New Horizons Foundation.<\/p>\n

The 2017 campaign will begin in September. McCollum and Howell are confident that UCCS staff and faculty will again be highly supportive and possibly surpass the contributions of CU Boulder faculty and staff.<\/p>\n
