When combined with a matching grant from the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative, the total is $616,000.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign has until Dec. 31 to raise another $308,000 from donors, receive matching funds and achieve the total goal of $1,376,000. El Pomar Foundation provided a $150,000 leadership grant.<\/p>\n<p>UCCS will award nine COSI scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year to students pursuing degrees in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Human Resources Management<\/li>\n<li>Biology w\/ Pre-med minor<\/li>\n<li>Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Nursing<\/li>\n<li>Finance<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_24122\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24122\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/server.np_-e1452726904246-300x382.jpeg.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-24122\" src=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/server.np_-e1452726904246-300x382.jpeg-300x382.jpg\" alt=\"Pam Shockley-Zalabak\" width=\"300\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/server.np_-e1452726904246-300x382.jpeg.jpg 300w, https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/server.np_-e1452726904246-300x382.jpeg-118x150.jpg 118w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-24122\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pam Shockley-Zalabak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Cultivate is an effort by UCCS, Pikes Peak Community College and El Paso County. Should the full match opportunity be achieved, more than 200 students will benefit from the award. PPCC scholarships will be for two years for each student and UCCS scholarships for four years. Scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply appreciative of those who have recognized that the future of Colorado Springs is dependent on an educated workforce.
