The launch of a yearlong series of programming on the topic of violence is 1-2:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Kraemer Family Library.<\/p>\n
\u201cUCCS Dialogue: Moving Forward Through Violent Times\u201d will give staff, faculty and students an opportunity to \u201cdiscuss our distinct experiences of the impact of recent violence,\u201d according to organizers.<\/p>\n
That violence includes the Nov. 28, 2015, shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood facility, in which UCCS police officer Garrett Swasey died. Two others died in that shooting, and others were injured.<\/p>\n
The Aug. 31 program will feature a small-group format in which participants can \u201creflect on various ways we can consciously move forward as individuals and as a community,\u201d according to organizers. The event will be in the Third Floor Apse. Later programming will include discussion groups.<\/p>\n
The dialogue is sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Provost, Associate Vice Chancellor for Inclusion and Academic Engagement, Kraemer Family Library \u201cJust Talk\u201d series and Center for Religious Diversity in Public Life.<\/p>\n
