The center is located at 5225 N. Nevada Ave.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_2227.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-23172 \" src=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_2227-750x500-3.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2227\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>CU Regents Kyle Hybl and Steve Ludwig were in attendance, as well as officials from Ent Credit Union, donors, members of the architecture and construction team, UCCS faculty and staff and others.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the beam sat on campus near the West Lawn so UCCS students, faculty and staff could sign their names to it. Topping off, or topping out, ceremonies date to hundreds of years ago and are meant to symbolize teamwork, craftsmanship and good luck. A small tree that sat atop the beam symbolized good fortune for the occupants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe topping out is a ceremony that signifies that we have reached a zenith; the building\u2019s final height,\u201d said Susan Szpyrka, senior vice chancellor for administration and finance.<\/p>\n<p>Szpyrka and others, including Sally Hybl, who has led fundraising efforts for the center, recognized the many community partnerships that have made the Ent center possible.<\/p>\n<p>As the crane lifted the beam into place, Solveig Olsen sang \u201cOh Se Sapeste\u201d from Puccini\u2019s opera
