\"Downtown<\/a>The defending Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men\u2019s Basketball Tournament champion UCCS Mountain Lions will open the home-game season Nov. 6 at the historic Colorado Springs City Auditorium.<\/p>\n

UCCS will host Northern New Mexico College in an exhibition contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the game are available at http:\/\/UCCSTickets.com<\/a>. Game day sales will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the auditorium box office, 221 East Kiowa Street.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Mountain Lions will open the regular season with three games Oct. 30-Nov. 1, at the Disney Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, California. UCCS is picked fifth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches\u2019 Poll after an NCAA Division II Second Round appearance and program-record 27 games won last season. Alex Welsh earned RMAC All-Preseason honors from the coaches.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Classic represents an ongoing commitment between UCCS and the Colorado Springs City Auditorium that started in 2013. The facility\u00a0now meets\u00a0NCAA regulations with new scoreboards, flooring and goals. The auditorium hosted the CHSAA 2A Black Forest League District Tournament in February, the first high school games since UCCS-spearheaded improvements. The City of Colorado Springs will soon begin improvements to the auditorium’s restrooms.<\/p>\n

The Colorado Springs City Auditorium opened in 1922 after a general election vote in 1921 approved a $390,000 bond measure. The Strategic Plan for the Revitalization of the City Auditorium identified upgrades to the facility to establish it as a viable public events venue in downtown Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
