Public service jobs ranging from social services to law enforcement, firefighting, healthcare and education, can be emotionally intense. Workshop topics include how the affective component of jobs drives performance and citizen satisfaction, what skills are required, and how protective measures can help workers overcome the threat of burnout. <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.www.alumniconnections.com\/olc\/pub\/UCOC\/event\/showEventForm.jsp?form_id=189523\">Advance registration<\/a> is required.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shaping Lives and Building Community: The 2015 Child Protection Symposium<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><strong>11 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 4, University Center 116<br \/>\n4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., May 5, University Center 303<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Exploring Violence in Society<\/strong>, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 4, University Center 116. This event presents student research on child exploitation and intervention mechanisms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Human Trafficking:\u00a0\u00a0Causes and Consequences, <\/strong>4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.<strong>, <\/strong>May 5, University Center 303<strong>. <\/strong>Student research related to human trafficking crimes, intervention, and prevention strategies will be shared.
