UCCS police and the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to an injured hiker on the bluffs behind campus on April 14<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management will conduct a full-scale wildfire\u00a0exercise\u00a0in Palmer Park between 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.\u00a0April 25.<\/p>\n

According to Tim Stoecklein, program director, Emergency Management, several\u00a0firefighting and law enforcement vehicles\u00a0participating in the exercise will use\u00a0Lot 580 on\u00a0the west side of campus\u00a0as a staging and briefing area. Stoecklein\u00a0encouraged the campus community to not be alarmed as there is no campus emergency.<\/p>\n

During the exercise, law enforcement personnel will conduct door-to-door evacuation procedures throughout the neighborhoods surrounding Palmer Park while fire personnel simulate fire attack and damage assessments on selected properties.<\/p>\n

“Law enforcement, and other response agencies, may be seen in the neighborhoods,\u00a0on\u00a0Austin Bluffs in front of campus, and staging in Lot 580.\u00a0These resources will be in the area for exercise purposes only,”\u00a0Stoecklein said. “Our role in this exercise, much like the last one, is in support of the Office of Emergency Management.”<\/p>\n

During the drill a C-130 aircraft from the 302nd Airlift Wing, Peterson Air Force Base may be in the area briefly simulating aerial resources during one of its routine local training missions.<\/p>\n
