{"id":18491,"date":"2015-04-16T09:24:31","date_gmt":"2015-04-16T15:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=18491"},"modified":"2020-04-14T16:09:17","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T22:09:17","slug":"college-of-education-plans-events-50th-anniversary-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=18491","title":{"rendered":"College of Education plans events 50th Anniversary events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/UCCS-50th-Anniversary-Mark.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-16090 size-small-size\" src=\"\" alt=\"UCCS-50th-Anniversary-Mark\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The College of Education will undertake two activities as part of its celebration of the university&#8217;s 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>From April 20 to\u00a0May 1,\u00a0a children&#8217;s book drive is planned in cooperation with the Kraemer Family Library. University community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used books appropriate for children in elementary school. Donation boxes will be located at the west entrance of the library and at the College of Education dean\u2019s suite on the third floor of Columbine Hall.<\/p>\n<p>The books collected will be given to Project LOGO (Library on the Go) which provides backpacks filled with books to low-income children. Project LOGO is directed by Barbara Swaby, professor emerita, College of Education. More than 170,000 books have been collected and distributed to children in the Pikes Peak Region. For more information, contact Swaby 255-4091.<\/p>\n<p>From April 20 to 24, a showcase of College of Education alumni is planned. Pictures and descriptions of 50 college alumni will be displayed along the pedestrian spine.
