Tejon.<\/p>\n<p>A public gallery talk is scheduled for 5 p.m. with a reception immediately following. All events are free and open to the public. The exhibit will be on display through May 16. Gallery hours are Noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday or by appointment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Aftermath&#8221; is the second collaboration between painter <a href=\"http:\/\/www.granthottle.com\/\">Grant Hottle<\/a> and sculptor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paularebsom.com\/\">Paula Rebsom<\/a> focused on their shared interests in shifting planes and perspectives, stage sets, imagined realities, and broken landscapes. For this exhibit, their separate practices will merge into unexpected combinations of color and form. Between shards of interior and exterior is the potential for the uncanny, a sense of familiarity in the presence of the unusual. &#8220;Aftermath&#8221; creates a space where disruption provides an opportunity for discovery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;TILT Export:&#8221; <\/strong>is an independent art initiative with no fixed location, working in partnership with a variety of venues for its exhibitions. Founded by Jenene Nagy and Joshua West Smith, former curators of Tilt Gallery and Project Space, TILT\/Export: serves as a catalyst for opportunity, awareness, and ideas through art. Learn more about the initiative at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tiltpdx.com\/\">www.tiltpdx.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Artists<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paula Rebsom<\/strong> earned a master&#8217;s in fine arts in sculpture from the University of Oregon in 2006 and currently lives and works in Seattle. Her art practice uses sculpture, photography, and site specific installation to investigate the many complex relationships that humans have formed with nature and the wild. Rebsom&#8217;s work has been supported by the Ford Family Foundation, Oregon Arts Commission, Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Marylhurst University Faculty Innovation Fund, Djerassi Resident Artists Program, and the Ucross Foundation Residency Program. She has exhibited her work in solo shows at Half\/Dozen, Portland, The Art Gym, Marylhurst University, Lake Oswego, Ore., and Form Space Atelier, Seattle, and in group shows at RAID Projects, Los Angeles, Nicolaysen Art Museum, Casper, Wyo., Samson Gallery, Boston, and the<em> <em>University of Tennessee, Knoxville.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Grant Hottle<\/strong> is an artist and educator based in Portland. He studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands, and earned a bachelor&#8217;s in fine arts from the University of Oklahoma and a master&#8217;s in fine arts from the University of Oregon. His abstract paintings and drawings use layered marks to create dense compositions of bold color and complex space. A formalist with a sense of humor, his current projects take aim at mythologies of the end of times through the lens of popular culture and art history. Hottle&#8217;s work has been supported by the Oregon Arts Commission and the Ford Family Foundation, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, and the Clark College Faculty Development Fund. His paintings and drawings have been shown at venues including the Torrance Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum Gallery, Southern Oregon University, the University of Arkansas, the Kirkland Arts Center, Swarm Gallery in Oakland, the Portland Building, Sams\u00d8n in Boston, and Disjecta&#8217;s 2012 Biennial. His paintings are in the permanent collections of the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, the University of Oregon, and Portland Community College Rock Creek.<\/p>\n<p>GOCA is a regional hub of contemporary art, culture, and conversation. By featuring world-class artists, hosting artist and expert talks, and offering meaningful events, GOCA engages UCCS students, faculty, staff and Pikes Peak Region community members in contemporary culture and life.
