{"id":1762,"date":"2010-09-16T16:47:25","date_gmt":"2010-09-16T22:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=1762"},"modified":"2018-01-31T11:36:21","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T18:36:21","slug":"clyde%e2%80%99s-almost-ready-to-pounce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=1762","title":{"rendered":"Clyde\u2019s almost ready to pounce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new\u00a0gathering spot\u00a0 for faculty, staff, students and visitors to UCCS will officially open for business Sept. 28.<\/p>\n<p>Clyde\u2019s, located on the first floor of the University Center, will be a featured part of the annual Back to the Bluffs week of activities, according to Tamara Moore, director, Auxiliary Services Marketing.<\/p>\n<p>A 4 p.m. grand opening will officially begin Back to the Bluffs and formally launch the new restaurant that will feature food and drink that cannot be found elsewhere on campus as well as entertainment ranging from live music to Caf\u00e9 Scientifique presentations.<\/p>\n<p>A ribbon cutting and comments by Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak are planned for 4:15 p.m. with an educational program about mountain lions presented by representatives of Serenity Springs Wildlife Center and Campus Recreation Center staff. Clyde is the adopted mountain lion mascot of UCCS and a full-time resident of the Calhan-based refuge. Clyde is expected to attend the opening of the restaurant named in his honor.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Serenity Springs Wildlife Center and Clyde, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.serenityspringswildlife.org\/cougars.htm\">http:\/\/www.serenityspringswildlife.org\/cougars.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other planned grand opening activities include live music, discounted and sample food, and giveaways including coasters and t-shirts.<\/p>\n<p>Following the event, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the 7 p.m. women\u2019s volleyball game at the Gallogly Events Center.<\/p>\n<p>Clyde\u2019s is a four-month revamping of space previously occupied by the Pub and is part of a three-year multi-phase revamping of the first floor of the University Center, according to Susan Szpyrka, associate vice chancellor, Administration and Finance. Public spaces\u00a0on the UC first floor, including a game room, will be remodeled by May\u00a01 with future renovations focused on the\u00a0southwest entrance to the University Center and improvements\u00a0to\u00a0meeting rooms \u00a0and outdoor spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Clyde&#8217;s provides seating for 100 with plans calling for regular entertainment and presentations and hours that closely follow those of the University Center.
