Echolocation signals inadvertently reveal a bat&#8217;s presence to prey and conspecifics, driving evolutionary arms races and clever mating strategies. Examples include prey and rival bats employing specialized sonar-jamming signals, bats emitting covert and ultra-quiet echolocation pulses to evade detection, and some species even abandoning echolocation entirely.
