As director, Samuels will focus on programming, providing and coordinating workshops and trainings, expanding community outreach and fundraising.<\/p>\n<p>Abby Ferber, professor, Department of Sociology, and Women&#8217;s and Ethnic Studies Program, will serve as associate director. She will remain editor of the open-access, peer-reviewed journal, \u201cUnderstanding and Dismantling Privilege\u201d and direct the Matrix Center\u2019s graduate certificate program. Previously, Ferber served as director.<\/p>\n<p>Moselle Bernal, project manager, Women\u2019s and Ethnic Studies Program, will assist Samuels and Ferber.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy goal for the Matrix Center is to continue the great work that Abby (Ferber) has done to build this unique organization,\u201d Samuels said. \u201cIt has become a consistent entity that local, regional, and national communities can count on to provide intersectional social justice programming, workshops and resources in an effort to affect learning and change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/matrix\/index.html\">http:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/matrix\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Dena Samuels, assistant professor, Women\u2019s and Ethnic Studies Program, was recently named director of The Matrix Center for the Advancement of Social Equity and Inclusion.
