As the nation celebrates its 21st Cybersecurity Awareness Month<\/a>, the Cybersecurity Programs Office<\/a> is participating with several events and initiatives on campus. Check out the following to see what’s happened so far and upcoming events to participate in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cool Science Carnival Day<\/strong>
Cybersecurity Awareness Month kicked off with this year\u2019s Cool Science Carnival Day<\/a> on Sept. 28, with the Cybersecurity Programs Office providing Virtual Reality (VR) stations and activity tables for kids and community members. Attendees could try out the immersive VR experience, which allowed them to walk through various cyber career areas in a virtual world, engage with people in cyber jobs and solve cyber riddles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital Citizenship and the Top Cybersecurity Risks to Our Community<\/a><\/strong>
Tuesday, Oct. 8, 12-1 p.m., online event<\/em>
Ben Edelen, Chief Information Security Officer for the Colorado Dept. of State, will discuss how cybersecurity now needs to be a life skill, and those skills can come from unexpected places. Hosted by UCCS Cybersecurity Programs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cybersecurity Roundtable: Phishing, AI, and Protecting Your Data<\/a><\/strong>
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 12-1 p.m., online event<\/em>
Join our webinar with CU\u2019s information security officers, including UCCS’s Charlie Wertz, and learn about best practices for protecting your information. Hosted by CU Anschutz\/CU Denver\u00a0Information Security and IT Compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CISA Cybersecurity Webinar with Charlie Marmon<\/a><\/strong>
Thursday, Oct. 24, 12-1 p.m., online event<\/em>
Charlie Marmon, Cybersecurity Advisor with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency will talk about\u00a0how ransomware attacks affect a variety of different government and private sectors.\u00a0Hosted by CU Boulder IT Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
