Scott Kupferman, Ph.D.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Scott Kupferman, Ph.D., College of Education Associate Professor and SPED Program Coordinator, recently received a prestigious Fulbright Specialist Award for a project in Botswana. This is his second appointment as a Fulbright scholar<\/a>, having acted as one last year at the University of Tokyo, Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project focuses on improving access for students with disabilities throughout Botswana. It will consist of knowledge exchanges, a variety of educational and research activities and establishing partnerships that benefit participants, institutions, and communities both in the U.S. and overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This Fulbright award was sparked when my colleagues from Botswana visited UCCS in 2019 via the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program,” Kupferman said. “During their in-person visit, they met with students in our Special Education Program, learned about my research, and engaged with our community partners. We have continued our collaboration virtually, but now I’m excited for the opportunity to travel to Botswana in person as a Fulbrighter.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Recipients of Fulbright Specialist awards are selected on the basis of academic and professional
achievement, demonstrated leadership in their field, and their potential to foster long-term
cooperation between institutions in the U.S. and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
