Dr. Homer Wesley will lead the newly created and consolidated division as the Interim Vice Chancellor of\u202fEnrollment Management and Student Affairs. The search for a permanent Vice Chancellor for this division will launch in the fall semester.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will be one new position created through this reorganization: an Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Support and Engagement, who will be responsible for supporting the development of a more engaging and supportive campus culture. An interim AVC will be named in the coming days. A search for a permanent AVC will be held in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, departments that have historically fallen under the umbrella of Auxiliary Services will now be part of the Administration and Finance Division. These areas include the University Center, Event Services, Retail Services, Family Development Center, Dining and Hospitality Services, Housing Operations and the UCCS Farm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of this reorganization, the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management position will not be refilled. Additionally, the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs position has been eliminated.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis reorganization was approached in a way to protect our student-facing team members as much as possible,\u201d said Chancellor Sobanet. \u201cThese decisions are never easy and we are working closely with everyone directly impacted to help and support them through this transition.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Merging these two divisions should save the UCCS campus approximately $400,000 every year, after some savings are reinvested in areas to enhance student success and the student experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After former VCSA Carlos Garc\u00eda announced his retirement, Chancellor Sobanet met with the Student Affairs division in a series of listening sessions. These listening sessions resulted in extensive feedback across the campus recommending a reorganization. While these changes were not originally intended to support budget reductions, the division, just like the campus, had to find cost savings as part of the larger effort to achieve the overall budget reduction target for fiscal year 2024-25 of $4 million across the entire campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe foundational focus of our mission is to ensure that every student who chooses to attend UCCS receives an outstanding education in an environment that welcomes and includes them,\u201d said Chancellor Sobanet. \u201cThese immediate efforts and the ones we will work on together throughout this multi-year process will set our institution up for long-term success – a success we can all share.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
