He holds a master\u2019s degree from the University of Dallas and a bachelor\u2019s degree from Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio.<\/p>\n Dena Samuels,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Women\u2019s and Ethnic Studies, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Since 1999, Samuels has taught as an honorarium instructor, instructor and senior instructor at UCCS. She holds a Ph.D. in education from UCCS, a master\u2019s degree from UCCS and a bachelor\u2019s degree from Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass.<\/p>\n Marcus Winters,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Leadership, Research and Foundation, College of Education. Winters comes to UCCS from the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, New York, where he was a senior fellow. <\/a>Michael Calvisi,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.\u00a0Calivisi comes to UCCS from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., where he served as a post-doctoral fellow. He holds bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and Ph.D. degrees the University of California, Berkeley.<\/p>\n<\/a>Deborah Kenny<\/strong>, associate professor, Department of Nursing, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. A member of the faculty since January, Kenny is associate dean for research for Beth-El. She retired in Dec. 2009 from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel after 23 years service. She holds master\u2019s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Massachusetts, as well as master\u2019s degrees from Vanderbilt University and Boston University and a bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Northern Colorado.<\/p>\n<\/a>Beth Larkee Kumar<\/strong>, assistant professor, Kraemer Family Library. Kumar comes to UCCS from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill., where she worked as a reference research and government information sources assistant. She earned a master\u2019s degree in education from the University of Illinois and holds a certificate of advanced study as well as master\u2019s degree in library and information science from the University of Illinois.<\/p>\n<\/a>Roger Martinez,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of History, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Martinez comes to UCCS from Saint Joseph\u2019s University, Philadelphia, where he completed a postdoctoral fellowship. He holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Texas, a master\u2019s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Texas.<\/p>\n<\/a>Patrick McGuire,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education. McGuire comes to UCCS from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Va., where he was a graduate research assistant. He holds a Ph.D. in instructional technology from the University of Virginia and bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<\/a>Zachary Mesyan,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Mathematics, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Mesyan comes to UCCS from Ben Gurion University, Israel, where he completed a postdoctoral fellowship. He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor\u2019s degree from Brown University, Providence, R.I.<\/p>\n<\/a>Jeffrey Montez de Oca,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Sociology, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Montez de Oca comes to UCCS from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., where he was a visiting assistant professor. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, a master\u2019s from New York University, New York, N.Y., and a bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.<\/p>\n<\/a>Stephany Spaulding,<\/strong> assistant professor, Department of Women\u2019s and Ethnic Studies, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Spaulding comes to UCCS from Claflin University, Orangeburg, S.C., where she was an assistant professor of English. She holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., a master\u2019s degree from Purdue University and a bachelor\u2019s degree from Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta, Ga.<\/p>\n
