The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in partnership with the Staff and Faculty Pride Committees, and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center invites the UCCS campus community to participate in the Pikes Peak Pride parade on June 11, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Pikes Peak Pride<\/a>, formerly known as Colorado Springs Pridefest, will be on June 10 and 11, 2023, at Alamo Square Park (near the Pioneers Museum) in Downtown Colorado Springs. The Pikes Peak Pride Parade<\/a> will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 11 a.m. Following the parade, UCCS plans to host a post-parade pride gathering at UCCS Downtown<\/a>, to include food, music and refreshments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If interested in participating with UCCS in the Pikes Peak Pride parade, please register your interest via this online form<\/a>. Registration closes Friday, June 2. More details will come via email closer to the event date after registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In preparation for the event, the LGBTQ+ Resource Center plans to host a Pride Parade Poster Making event on Wednesday, June 7 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the MOSAIC lounge (UC 110).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

StoryCorp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Office of DEI Education and Outreach and The LGBTQ+ Resource Center will be partnering with StoryCorp<\/a>, an American non-profit organization whose mission is to record, preserve, and share the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. StoryCorp will be present at the Plaza of the Rockies on June 11, the same day as UCCS’ participation in the Pikes Peak Pride parade, as well as June 24. Both days will be reserved for the UCCS community. All of UCCS is invited to sign up to share their stories and experiences around LGBTQ+ identities, pride, the LGTBTQ+ Resource Center or anything else they’d like to share. Individuals can record their stories in-person at the StoryCorp recording van outside of the UCCS downtown space or virtually. UCCS Faces of Pride<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MOSAIC (Multicultural Office of Student Access, Inclusiveness, and Community) and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center are highlighting the diversity and intersectionality of LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty at UCCS through the \u201cUCCS Faces of Pride\u201d campaign. Members of the UCCS community are invited to submit a photo and respond to questions surrounding pride. Submissions will be featured on various institutional accounts including the MOSAIC and LGBTQ+ Resource Center, UCCS, and CU System publications. Click here<\/a> to access the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denver Pride<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The University of Colorado is sponsoring Denver Pride this year as well. Denver Pride will take place on June 24 and 25 at Civic Center Park. The University of Colorado is currently looking for volunteers to participate at PrideFest and walk in the parade. If interested in getting involved, please sign up here<\/a> by June 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the LGBTQ+ Resource Center at MOSAIC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Did you know that the LGBTQ+ Resource Center began as a task force in 2009? Continuing the task force’s mission, the Center works to create a safe and supportive campus environment by offering educational and community-building opportunities and advocating for the needs, visibility, and inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community on campus. About the UCCS Staff and Faculty PRIDE Committees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Staff and Faculty PRIDE Committees work to advocate for the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ identifying staff and faculty and their allies. This work is done through collaboration with campus departments, providing a space where LGBTQIA+ staff and faculty can build social and intellectual connections, and gain and maintain a healthy sense of self-identity as an LGBTQIA+ individual on campus.
