Going in for a medical visit can be intimidating for any number of reasons. Scheduling can be confusing, discussing sensitive medical issues can be difficult and costs can be prohibitive. The UCCS Wellness Center Health Services Clinic<\/a> is here to help students avoid all of those issues and easily get the care they need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur number one priority is student health and wellbeing,” said Billie Jo Baptiste, Director of Health Services. “The Health Services department in the Wellness Center is a judgement-free zone and our services are confidential. All of our healthcare providers are professional Nurse Practitioners that are Board Certified and have prescriptive authority.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A visit to the Wellness Center Health Services Clinic costs just $20. No insurance is needed, and patients can receive care for a wide variety of issues – from illnesses, infections and injuries to annual physicals, mental health medication evaluation and management, gynecology services, STI testing and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there are a few services that may cost a little bit extra – including lab testing, medications, orthopedic braces and the like – the Wellness Center Health Services Clinic offers all the types of care patients would receive at any other doctor’s office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wellness Center Health Services Clinic also works with a chiropractor, physical therapist and massage therapist to offer low-cost services to students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We place an emphasis on preventive health care to keep our students healthy and thriving,” Baptiste said. “Preventive health care is key to helping you stay healthy and detecting health problems early on, before they cause other issues or become more difficult to treat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wellness Center Health Services Clinic hosts many health-related events each semester, including free STI testing<\/a> this coming week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
