On Sunday, April 23, renowned actor John Douglas Thompson returns to Colorado for a special Prologue discussion on the occasion of the Theatreworks production of August Wilson\u2019s King Hedley II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internationally regarded as one of the finest Shakespearian actors of his generation, Thompson is also an expert on the plays of August Wilson, having received a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Becker in Jitney. Local audiences will remember his virtuosic performance as Louis Armstrong in Satchmo at the Waldorf that performed at Theatreworks in 2016 or from his many television and film credits: Till, The Gilded Age, Mare of Easttown, The Bourne Legacy, Michael Clayton, and many others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UCCS Theatre and Dance Program, Theatreworks and the Ent Center for the Arts are thrilled to welcome Thompson back to talk about the works of Wilson, from an actor\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prologue is a popular local lecture series founded and produced by Kevin Landis at UCCS. The series aims to connect students and patrons with extraordinary artists and scholars to discuss important issues in the performing arts, to mingle, to laugh, and to gather together as a community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that, due to busy schedules, the weekend Thompson is joining us is the weekend before King Hedley II opens to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
