Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences nursing professor<\/a> and director of the Gerontology Center<\/a> at UCCS Amy Silva-Smith spent five months at Edinburgh Napier University to study the benefits of being physically activity after a stroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an event hosted by Johnson Beth-El, Amy Silva-Smith discussed the research she completed in Scotland this past spring and summer, and other aspects of the Fulbright award that took her on a journey abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the presentation, Silva-Smith shared photos and images of her cultural experiences during her time studying strokes and rehabilitation care abroad. Silva-Smith was also prepared to aid or answer the questions of any others pursuing a Fulbright research scholarship or opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe things I have learned from this experience are shaping my research program to promote sustained physical activity after a stroke,” Silva-Smith said. “Seeing stroke care from the perspective of a different health care system opened my eyes to more challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
