David Jenkins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

David Jenkins, founder of Nor\u2019wood Development Group, will receive the 2014 UCCS College of Business Lifetime Entrepreneurship Award at a May 9 campus luncheon.<\/p>\n

Campus and community leaders will celebrate Jenkins\u2019 contributions to the development of Colorado Springs and commitment to several local charities and social initiatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid Jenkins is the kind of leader who exemplifies the spirit of this award,\u201d Venkat Reddy, dean, College of Business, said. \u201cNot only has he made a tangible impact on our community, but he also truly cares about the wellbeing of others. He has a strong vision for the future and pursues it with passion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenkins\u2019 firm, Nor\u2019wood, which he founded more than 50 years ago, is credited with several substantial development projects including the Wolf Ranch subdivision, the Plaza of the Rockies downtown office towers, the First and Main Town Center and the Powers Auto Park.<\/p>\n

Jenkins is an ardent supporter of Discover Goodwill, United Way, USA Cycling, First Presbyterian Church, and Care and Share. He is a 38-year member and past president of the East Colorado Springs Rotary Club and a 37-year member and past president of the Pikes Peak Range Riders.<\/p>\n

Jenkins follows a list of distinguished past award recipients. Previous award winners include Gary Loo (2009), Bruce Shepard (2010), Joe Woodford (2011), Cari Shaffer (2012), and Chuck Murphy (2013).<\/p>\n

The award luncheon is a fundraising event to support the College of Business and its alumni and student initiatives including a newly launched Career Coaching Program. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. May 9 in the Gallogly Events Center. Tickets are $150 each, $95 for UCCS College of Business alumni, and are available at www.uccs.edu\/LEA<\/a> or by calling (719) 255-5174.<\/p>\n

Dean\u2019s Circle sponsors of the award luncheon include Colorado State Bank and Trust, Kirkpatrick Bank, Luisa Graff Jewelers, Nunn Construction, Inc., Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, Gray Line Tours of Colorado, Inc., and Vectra Bank.<\/p>\n
